Growing up Jersey~Detroit

I notice I am getting a little slow, as I get older memories seem so far away.
Recently, chatting among friends we were reminiscing about our young adult music and television experiences. I knew I had plenty of experiences, but couldn't remember which came 1st and when?
So I stayed quiet, I didn't want to seem like I was bragging, or that I had no other life. It just seemed strange, to stay so quiet. The moment passed.
I love living here in the south, mostly because of the lack of snow. And down here people don't mind sharing there Bibles with you. But I like to tell my neighbors, if you ask me to come to your church, you are asking me to share my truths of God with you. So be careful what you ask for,and prepared to get schooled.
So
When I was young, I did not care for living in the suburbs of Detroit.I did not see it's value as I do now looking back. My parents met at Weehawken HS in NJ close to Hoboken. I grew up with my religious values from my very Catholic Grandmother that bestowed enough catholic guilt into my bones to be afraid of my shadow. 4th of July was always great at Grandmas, overlooking the Hudson River watching fireworks with the Empire state building winking back at you.
All the Guido boys were around, and we were all Jersey Girls.
From A Feast and fresh food markets, culture was rich.

In Michigan I never understood how my family got so far removed from NJ? That was our family?
In Novi aka No. 6 train station. We had 7 acres of farm land, corn fields fresh air.
Very pretty, Very Quiet.
And Lots of SNOW a great place to learn how to drive!

Thankfully my 1st real boyfriend Mike,( I was 16.) Mike was a music nut and a drummer! And a nice Reliable Capricorn, just like me! We loved independent music. We both wanted to go to Ca. as soon as we could, we just never did. Mike was a couple years older than me so when he was 18 he started going to Shows, at Harpos, Blondies, CBGbS? He was a Glam band man!  And I got to buy his Clothes and Dye his Hair!
I was not old enough to go with him, and we broke up by the time I could.
I loved Novi Now! Only 30 minutes to all the shows! Pine Knob ! Canada! Ann Arbor!the Blind Pig Clutch Cargos, St Andrews! The Shelter! 3 floor of h....aka Fun! The Velvet lounge, The Phoenix amphitheater! Royal Oak Majic bag! The State Theater Monday nights at the movies! !
My Safety mentality started quick, driving late on the weekends and clubbing alone. In the door by 11 out by 1:30 No reason to be on the roads with all the drinkers.
Ive seen so many shows, I cant remember them all. You go often, make friends that work the door. I think Deborah Harry at Blondies (lol)was my 1st show. Peter Grabrial life size at Silverdome , Maddona on her worst show, her dad was there...waste of $.Violent fems and Psychedelic Furs, Cindy Lauper, the Hulk, and Capt Lu! Too Bad religion & Green day.  The only show I did not see, was EMINM he was at the Shelter, singing a lot and I did not want to see some wigger on Rap night. He was always around, my loss.
From the Renaissance Festivals, and Music in Detroit, To Hines Park and Woodward Dream Cruise and even a Second City too!
I would Not have Changed a thing !

Another hurdel in a Small world continued

One week later:
The dogs are loose! God bless'em,  I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with the neighbor. (I had a flat tier that morning and I might have left the gate unlocked tying to get to tiertown) Thankfully the neighbor that lives across the street who face my home, and can see everything all the time, loves my kids and dogs! So she called me while I was in line to pick up the kids at school, she got Sargy, my bull dog happy to go back inside. My dingy pitbull Alexa is running everywhere. Oh no the pitbull! Sadly is the type of dog that wets herself, if you try to pet her. She dose no justice for the breed. I have to understand that everyone sees her is nervous, that comes with the breed too.

Anyway, I was truly very grateful to have a neighbor that got off her keaster to rescue my dogs. She looked and looked, I could heard the people on the phone complaining about a loose dog.  But My neighbor found Alexa at another neighbors 3 doors down, they put Alexa in their back yard where the fence was 3' tall,  Alexa could have easily hoped over it. All in all an Hour had past, and I apologized a lot. I wanted to make it up to them even if they had called animal control. I wanted to show I appreciated they did something to keep my dogs safe. So I wanted to treat them like rockstars, I got them each a cookie plate from Croissants. And to the parents of the neighbor who called me, and all her help a pound cake, cause the raise a great daughter of 50 years.(age is only a state of mind)   Random acts of kindness should not go unnoticed and maybe next time they might not call animal control. I hope their is no next time.

Another hurdel in a Small world

So I have 2 amazing boy! No mater who they might grow up to be, I will smuggle a file in if necessary.

My youngest Noah is 6 and Lars is 10. The 1st thing I learned after having Lars was 1, my life was over in favor of his. Then second when ones child bumps their head for the 1st time, bleeding out is good! You will freak out the 1st time this happens.
Noah is a treat and at 18 months he stopped walking, talking, and touching food to eat were done. For some reason my baby just stopped being himself, After a few doctors visits to find out how do I get him to eat (thank God for Vitamin shakes) Noah has Autism. Life changing event, but you deal with it expert by expert, day by day.
I am not a southern born girl, but I like the thought of hospitality being a southern thing, so I told My "friendly  neighbors" about Noah.  That if they ever see him out alone please stop him. Unfortunately this must of translated to: She must be a lazy mom that refuses to use a switch to discipline her boys,.  and they are not my problem. A couple of police calls later and a beautiful 6' fence solved most of the issues. Recently at Thanksgiving  the not so friendly neighbors kid came from out of town. They came over to say hi. They introduce their 3yo son to my boys, and said her Father had never met her son, because he had mental issues. I then hug her for confirming my thoughts.  And explained to her I had always found it odd that since she was born with not having an arm how her father could be so non understanding about my sons learning delay. Then I told her I keep and eye on her Grand dad, cause I had realizes her Grand Dad was no different than me, one day I might be just like him.
She smiled knowing some one looks out for Grand dad... and then offered me a piece of advice, not to leave my dogs unlocked of my yard as her dad would free them.

living for the right reasons, and not to make many excuses.

This weeks challenges,
living for the right reasons, and not to make many excuses.

I'm getting counseling for my marriage, (Because good Italian Catholic raised girls don't give up on loving their man straight) this seems to work out to translating between sexes.
I have to say I think its working.
My hope is that: let the past be the past, lets move on, by celebrating what today can be! The counselor said to my husband of 8 years "What can you do you make her feel famous"
He went Christmas shopping this week for the 1st time in 10 years. This is progress!!!!

We got here because, It was all the little things, I just kept doing, and he kept walking all over me.
I made him feel like he could do no wrong, and when he did, he did not care that he had.
He said it was always a selfish thing.  He did not do these things maliciously. It was always expected that I just need know that he "loved"me and that's all that mattered "Get over it already".

The heart does not work this way.  I finally woke up," I deserved Love ", I don't want to be a martyr!  God must really want me to do something about this because it keeps happening. God loves me right?! God wishes light and love for all his kids. If your not getting light and love than do something about it!
So I am.

I found out that some of my friendships are also inadvertently working the same way.
I  Hope God will help me fix that too with love.
